BEYOND #1: I attended a workshop about time management. The workshop was held on the second floor of the commons in room 206. There, my roommates and I were taught some helpful tips about time management. For example, the workshop leader had us log our classes and personal activities into a time management pie chart. This allowed us to see how much time we should realistically spend studying, working, and when to take some time to ourselves. We also wrote out our schedules so we could physically see where we had free time to study and fit in all activities outside of academics. I really liked this because I was beginning to feel somewhat overwhelmed by my classes and assignments. I found the whole workshop interesting and extremely helpful. The guides were super nice and we were even able to give them some tips from the student’s perspective. For example, my roommate, Hanna helped my other roommate and myself by making us each assignment trackers on google sheets. This is extremely handy because all of my assignments for the entire semester are all in one spot. This way, I can log on and check when assignments are due and when I finish them I can check them off. Overall, I find that going to such events is super beneficial and I see myself attending more on different subjects.
BEYOND #2: I attended the first football game with my firends and I had a great time. The game was on Bolt Field and we played Coast Guard and won in overtime. The game was exciting even though I don’t understand football. It was very interesting becasue it got paused halfway through due to weather so my friends had to run inside and they got soaked. However my roommate and I decided to leave in the 3rd quarter before it started to rain to watch some soccer. By then the weather changed and it started to storm so the soccer game also got postponed so we went back to the room. I found the football game very interesting because my friends were able to teach me some of the rules so I could understand better. I also really enjoyed the halftime show. The cheerleaders had a great routine with a good mix of tumbling and dancing. I love attending sports games so I would 100% go to another event like this. I used to play sports so watching sports is always fun for me, plus it gets me out and away from school work for a little bit.

BEYOND#3: This week I attended a scuba club meeting. During the first week, I went to the involvement fair and decided to join the scuba club. This Wednesday was the first meeting and I am excited to be a part of it. At the meeting I learned that I won’t be able to get my scuba certification until next fall. However, there are still some snorkeling trips that I can go on along with a trip to the New England Aquarium in Boston. I am super excited about this because I love snorkeling. I have only been once, when I was 12 but it was super fun! I am also excited to go to the New England Aquarium because I’ve been there and it was one of the reasons why I chose my major. I also learned that UNE will pay $700 worth of your scuba certification. This is amazing as I am a broke college student and I didn’t want to spend a thousand dollars on a scuba certification. The only fees that I will have to pay are the two hundred fifty towards the scuba certification and then an annual forty in insurance. Through this club, I will be able to experience scuba diving for the first time and be able to see underwater ecosystems.
BEYOND#4: This week, I attended Fall Fest with a bunch of my friends. We were all eating dinner and then saw all of the activities outside and decided to go. I am so glad we went, because we had so much fun! First, we each made a custom totebag with patches. We had some trouble getting the patches to stay because the iron had no water. Next, we decorated some glass cups. I drew a beach with some waves on mine. We also got our picture taken at the photo booth and it turned out so cute! We also tried the mechanical bull, which actually was in the shape of a pumpkin. This made it harder to stay on so I fell off pretty quickly. We also did a round of the bumper cars. This was so fun, because we kept spinning really fast in the cars and then crashing into eachother. I would totally go to another event like this. I had so much fun and made a bunch of memories with my friends.

BEYOND #5: This week, I attended the industry exploration day with a friend. I personally had little interest in going because I am not a business major, but my friend had to go because she’s on the hockey team, so we decided to go together. When we got there, we felt really out of place as an AES major and a Marine Science major, but we realized that the resources there could still be helpful. SO we decided to go to a table and ask about resumes. We met this really nice lady and she told us about do’s and dont’s with resumes, and we had a good conversation. After that, we just walked around and noticed the swap shop had a bunch of business attire to borrow for headshots. We thought this was really cool. Its nice to know that UNE has clothing for the use of students and has the ability to take free headshots for students. After doing our rounds, and looking at a couple more tables, we decided to leave. Overall, I don’t think I will be attending another business event, purely because I am not really all that interested in business, but it was a nice oppertunity to see how the college of business hosts events for students.
